  • 1968 .. Hanging out with BUDDY MILES and JIMI HENDRIX hears studio tape of just recorded “Vodoo Chile” which blows mind. Walks around in early morning contemplating giving up music and pursuing another occupation.
  • 1969 .. A late night jam session with JIMI HENDRIX was released on two seperate albums after the guitarist death. “Jimi Jimmy Jam” was released on Jimi Hendrix – The Complete 1969 Sessions – Part I and also Nine To Universe (released 3/80 charted at #127 in US.)  The session was recorded on 3/25/69 at the Record Plant in New York. The session included Hendrix, McCarty, Buddy Miles on drums, and Roland Robinson on bass. Original track was 16:17 with final mix around 8 minutes. McCARTY has said this was a early morning jam session never intended for release ..
  • 1970 .. Hears JEFF BECK’S “Truth” ablum. The hard rock sound inspired him and was a factor in him joining the band CACTUS.
